Upload problems
Why a photo, video or sound is refused, and how to fix it.
What each upload accepts
Premium accounts can upload larger files; the larger size is in brackets.
| Upload | Files | Up to |
|---|---|---|
| Profile photo | JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF | 5 MB (Premium 15 MB) |
| Background picture | JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF | 5 MB (Premium 15 MB) |
| Background video | MP4 | 20 MB (Premium 150 MB) |
| Sound | MP3, OGG, WAV, M4A | 8 MB (Premium 20 MB) |
| Image block | JPG, PNG, WebP, GIF | 5 MB (Premium 15 MB), 2560 × 2560 pixels |
| Social preview picture | JPG, PNG, WebP | 8 MB, at least 600 × 315 pixels |
Fixes
- Too large. Resize or compress the file and try again. Phone photos are often far bigger than a page needs.
- Wrong type. Save the file as one of the types above. A HEIC photo from an iPhone, for example, needs to be saved as JPG first.
- Too many pixels. Pictures over 8,192 pixels on a side are refused: make it smaller.
- “That is a lot of uploads at once.” Wait the seconds it says, then try again.
When an upload is refused, what you had before stays as it was.
