Terms of use
The rules for using beseen, for people who make pages and for people who visit them.
These terms are the rules for using beseen. They apply to everyone: people with an account who make pages, and people who visit them. By creating an account, you agree to these terms and to our privacy policy.
Your account
- You must be at least 16 years old to create an account. You confirm this when you sign up.
- Use a real email address and keep your password to yourself. You are responsible for what happens on your account; turn on two-factor authentication to protect it.
- You can download a copy of your data, or delete your account, at any time in your settings.
Handles
A handle is your address on beseen. You can use it as long as you have an account and follow these terms, but it does not belong to you. We may keep some handles for ourselves, and we may take a handle back if it pretends to be someone else, uses someone’s trademark, misleads visitors, or has not been used for a long time.
What you put on your page
Your content stays yours. You only allow us to store it, show it on your page and in previews, and send you what visitors send through it. This ends when you delete the content or your account.
You are responsible for your page. Do not use beseen to:
- post anything illegal, or anything you do not have the rights to;
- pretend to be another person, brand or organisation, or lie to visitors about who you are;
- link to malware, phishing, scams, or pages that trick people into giving their data;
- harass or threaten anyone, or stir up hatred or violence against anyone;
- post sexual content involving minors, or sexual content of anyone without their consent;
- spam, attack, overload or scrape the service.
If a page breaks these rules, we may hide it, remove content from it, or ban the account, for a while or for good. When we can, we first tell you why and how you can respond. Accounts whose pages keep breaking other people’s rights are banned. To report a page, see Copyright and reports.
Messages from visitors
If your page has a message form or a drawing canvas, visitors can send you messages and drawings. You get them by email and in your inbox. What visitors send belongs to them, not to us: treat it, and any email address they give you, with care.
Statistics
We show you how many people view your page and click its links, without saying who they are (see the privacy policy). Do not try to use beseen to find out who your visitors are or to track them.
Premium, purchases and payments
beseen is free. You can also buy:
- Premium: the premium layouts, one more page, and the Premium badge, for good.
- The Vanguard badge: a launch supporter badge for your pages, for good, one per account, for a limited number of buyers in all.
- A Badge Emblem (custom badge slot): the right to make one badge of your own, for good.
The pricing page shows what each costs, in euros, taxes included. Each is a one-time payment: there is no subscription and nothing renews. If we change a price, it never changes what you have already bought.
Who you pay. Payments are handled by Link, Stripe’s payment service, which sells our products as the merchant of record for all our orders (Stripe Managed Payments): it takes your payment, sends your receipt, works out and pays the VAT, and handles refunds, under the terms it shows at checkout. We never see or keep your card details. We are responsible for giving you what you bought.
When you get it. By paying, you ask us to unlock what you bought straight away, and we do as soon as Stripe confirms the payment. If you live in the EU or the UK, you agree that your 14-day right to withdraw from the purchase ends once it is unlocked. If we cannot give it to you (for example, the last Vanguard badge was bought just before your payment arrived), we refund you in full.
“For good” means for as long as your account exists and beseen runs. If you delete your account, what you bought ends with it. While an account is banned for breaking these terms, what it bought does not work.
Refunds. We refund a purchase when something really went wrong: it does not work as we describe it and we cannot fix it, the payment went wrong, we could not deliver it, someone paid without your permission, or the law gives you a right to a refund. We do not refund a change of mind once a purchase is unlocked. A refund takes back what it paid for. The refund policy explains when and how.
We can also give Premium or a badge to an account for free, for example to thank someone. Premium we give may be for a limited time; when it ends, your pages go back to the free features and your settings are kept.
BeSeen Coins
BeSeen Coins are beseen’s reward credits. You spend them in the Shop in your dashboard on Premium, Badge Emblems (custom badge slots), and extra aliases (an extra address for one of your pages, for 12 months at a time, renewed by hand). The Vanguard badge cannot be bought with coins.
- Coins are not for sale. Our team gives them as a reward, for example for reporting a bug or suggesting an idea on our Discord server. Whether something earns coins, and how many, is up to our team.
- Coins have no cash value. They cannot be bought, exchanged for money, moved to another account, or used anywhere but beseen. They do not expire, but they end with your account.
- Coins are not refunded for money. If something you got with coins does not work as described, we put it right or give the coins back.
- When an extra alias ends and is not renewed, it stops opening your page, and we keep it for you for 30 days, during which only you can reclaim it for free, before anyone else can claim it. An alias you protect (paid, for 7 or 30 days at a time) cannot be claimed by anyone else while the protection lasts.
The service
We work to keep beseen running and your data safe, but we give it to you as it is. We cannot promise it will always be online or free of errors, so keep your own copies of anything important. We may change or stop features; for changes that matter, we tell account holders ahead of time.
We are fully responsible for damage we cause on purpose or through gross negligence, and wherever the law says so. Otherwise, we are only responsible for damage that could be expected when we fail to do something essential to the service.
Nothing in these terms takes away the protection the law of the country where you live gives you as a consumer.
Changes to these terms
If we change these terms, we update this page and its date, and email account holders at least 30 days before the change applies. If you do not agree, you can delete your account before then.
