Copyright and reports
How to tell us that a page uses your work without permission or shows something illegal, and what happens next.
Every page at beseen.bio/name is made by one of our users, and we do not check pages before they go live. If a page uses your work without permission, or shows something illegal, tell us and we will look at it.
What you can report
- Copyright: your photo, artwork, music, video or writing, used without your permission.
- Trademarks and impersonation: a page that pretends to be you, your brand or your organisation.
- Other illegal content: scams, phishing or malware links, threats, harassment, hate speech, and anything else our terms of use forbid.
If someone is in immediate danger, or a page shows sexual content involving a minor, contact the police as well.
How to send a report
If you have an account, use the Report button on the page itself: the flag in its top corner. Log in (your email address must be confirmed), pick what is wrong, describe it, and send. Your report goes straight to our staff, from your account, so they know who sent it and can reply.
No account? Email legal@beseen.bio with the subject “Report” and the page’s address. You do not need an account to report anything.
Either way, please include:
- Where: the page’s address (beseen.bio/name) and which part of it: a photo, a block, a link.
- Why: what is illegal about it, or which of your rights it breaks. For copyright, say what your work is, where we can see the original, and that you own it or may act for the person who does.
- Who you are: with the Report button, this comes from your account. By email, give your name and an address we can reply to; a copyright report needs both.
- Good faith: one sentence saying you believe, in good faith, that what your report says is true and complete.
If something is missing, your report may take longer, because we will have to ask for it.
What happens next
- We confirm that we got your report: on the page when you send it and by email to your account’s address, or by replying to your email.
- We look at it as soon as we can, and may ask you or the page’s owner for more information.
- If the content is illegal or breaks our terms, we remove it or hide it, or hide the whole page.
- We tell the page’s owner what we removed or hid, why, and how they can respond.
- We tell you what we decided.
If your content was removed
Reply to the email we sent you, or write to legal@beseen.bio from your account’s email address, and explain why you think we got it wrong: for example, that you own the rights, have a licence, or that it is a lawful quote or parody. We look at it again and tell you the result. You can also go to court.
Repeated infringement
We ban accounts whose pages keep breaking other people’s rights or showing illegal content. We look at how many valid reports there were and how serious they were.
False reports
Do not send reports you know are false, or use reports to harass someone. If someone keeps sending reports that are clearly unfounded, we may stop acting on their reports for a while.
Questions
Questions about a report? Email legal@beseen.bio, or talk to us on our Discord server (open a ticket, or send a message to an owner). What we do with the personal data in a report is in our privacy policy.
