Getting your page found on Google

What decides whether search engines show your page, and what you can do about it.

A public page can be found by search engines such as Google. No one can promise when, or whether, a search engine shows a given page: it decides by itself. What you control is whether your page is allowed in, and what it says about itself.

Make the page public

A private page tells search engines to stay away and shows visitors “not found”. Make your page public first.

List it in Explore

beseen publishes a sitemap, a list of pages for search engines to read. Only pages their owners listed in Explore are in it. An unlisted public page can still be found if someone links to it, but we do not advertise it. See Listing your page in Explore.

Say what the page is about

Search engines read your page’s name and bio, and show them in results. Use your real name or brand in the name, and write a bio that says in a sentence what people will find, in plain words. A page with only a nickname and no bio gives a search engine little to show.

With Premium you can also write the title (up to 70 characters) and the description (up to 160 characters) that search results use, in the Social preview tab under Branding and SEO.

Search engines trust a page more when other sites link to it. Put your address in the link field of your social profiles and share it where people already follow you. See Put your link in your bio.

It takes time

A new page can take days or weeks to show up, and a search for your exact name or address is the easiest result to get. If a page is still missing after a few weeks, check that it is public, that it has a name and a bio, and that your email address is confirmed.
